Today, CMHA Durham joins individuals and organizations across the country in celebrating National Caregiver Day.
National Caregiver Day is intended to honour caregivers — the millions of parents, children, siblings, spouses and friends who provide unpaid care to support someone with a diminishing physical ability, a debilitating cognitive condition or a chronic life-limiting illness.
According to Carers Canada, the COVID-19 pandemic has increased the demand for caregivers in Canada, resulting in added strain to their role and impacting their mental health. CMHA Durham offers Caregiver & Family Supports for anyone caring for an individual living with a mental health and/or addiction issue. For more information about family and caregiver centered support please contact us at (905) 436-8760 or see our contact page for more information.
CMHA Ontario and branches around the province also provide programs and services to support mental wellness, such as Living Life to the Full, BounceBack, counselling, information on stress management, and much more.
